Kraft Outlet - Furry Little Creatures

It's time for Challenge #4 at The Kraft Journal! This week the challenge theme is Groundhog or Furry Little Critters. I was so excited to see this challenge theme, furry critters are my thing!! I knew instantly that I wanted to do a layout about Harley and I knew exactly which photo I was going to use. I love it when things come to me easily!! I am really loving all of the yummy goodness at Kraft Outlet! Here is my layout with my Furry Little Critter.

How adorable is that little face!?! Oh my gosh, how I love him. You might be wondering why the title of this layout is "Kitty" when this is clearly a dog. Harley has A LOT of nicknames. When the girls were little they really liked the movie Monsters Inc. The little girl, Boo, called Sully "Kitty" and so they started to call Harley  "Kitty". The journaling talks about his many nicknames, which also includes "Sausage Boy".  Poor thing, he knows we love him...LOL

I hope that you will join us this week over at The Kraft Journal!

Papercraft Star Scraplift Challenge

Happy Friday!!

The 30th challenge over at Papercraft Star is a fun one! Our challenge this week is a scraplift challenge. Scraplift ANY project on ANY of our current Papercraft Star Creative Team Member's blogs. You can see a list of all of our Creative Team Members right here. Be sure to add a link (or tell us) what Designer and what project you scraplifted from in your personal blog post so we can check it out!

If you are the winner of Challenge 30 you will win our People's Choice Award blog button as well as a prize from our sponsor. Our sponsor this week is Nikki Sivils, Scrabooker!!

I decided to scraplift a card from my great friend, and co-founder of Papercraft Star, Beth Moore. When I went over to Beth's blog to check out her cards my eyes about popped out of my head when I saw that there were 108 items under the "cards" label. Her creations are all so amazing I was worried that I wouldn't be able to pick just one. And then, on the second page, what should appear.....CHICKENS!! Yeah...I was so excited. I stopped there and knew I didn't have to look any further. (whew..cuz 108 is a lot!) I honestly think she must have been thinking of me when she made this card anyway ;)
Here is Beth's fantastic card,

I mainly wanted to copy the country/farm feel of Beth's card. I just love that chicken paper, I wish I had some! What I did have though was some farm themed paper from JilliBean Soup. I made a much simpler version of Beth's card, but that's me....simple. Here is my card,

The lighting for picture taking around here is not the best this week. It can't decide if it wants to be sunny or cloudy around here. I really need to get a light box. I did a lot of inking around the edges of the paper on this card, but it just doesn't show well in this photo....bummer.

I hope that you will join us at Papercraft Star this week for this fun challenge. You have until 12 Noon (eastern) Saturday Jan 29th to get your project linked up before the public voting begins.
One other thing I wanted to mention about Papercraft Star's challenges, in case you didn't already know. Our challenges are posted weeks and weeks in advance, it's not a surprise every week. To see our upcoming challenges, just go to the challenges page on the blog...right HERE.

Project PageMaps 1-3

It's already the 3rd week into my personal scrapbooking challenge,  Project PageMaps!! This week I used the third sketch found on page 13 of the 1st book. The sketch is an 8 1/2 x 11 horizontal 3 photo layout. Since I don't do 8 1/2 x 11 layouts and I very seldom do 3 photo layouts, I improvised!

I'm pretty happy with the way this one turned out. I always enjoy making these beautiful flowers! I also had fun playing with some very pretty paper I just got from Stampin Up.

I really need to get my butt in gear with this project and find time to do more than one layout a week. I won't make it through the first book this year by only doing one per week. I know I won't have time next week, but maybe the week after that. That means I will be tackling the 4th sketch on page 15. It's a 12 x 12 double layout. I don't do double layouts either...LOL I'll have to figure out a way to alter it to my taste.

Remember, if you have these sketches and would like to play along with me I would love the company. You can email me a picture of your layout and I'll post it here with mine.

I'll be back on Friday with a project for this week's challenge at Papercraft Star!
Have a great day and thanks for visiting my little piece of the world!!

Sorry

Hey there! I'm sorry I didn't get a post up yesterday, I really am trying to post Mon, Wed and Fri on a regular basis.  I have a lot going on here at the moment. I had a Doc appt to get the results of a CT scan and have another test run. The results of the CT scan only provided me with a referral to, yet another, doctor. Hopefully we can get things under control soon.

I will be back next week with a tutorial for The Kraft Journal and Papercraft Star.

I hope you are all having a fabulous weekend, I'll talk to you next week.
For now, I will leave you with one of our new family photos.

Project PageMaps 1-2

I'm so excited for this week, the 2nd week of my Project PageMaps. The wonderful and fabulous Audrey Pettit joined me in making a layout using the 2nd sketch from the book PageMaps. If you own the 1st book you can find the sketch on page 12.

First let me share Audrey's layout with you.

How fantastic is that!! I just love the pictures she takes of her precious dog. If you follow my blog at all, you know how much of a dog lover I am! If you don't know who Audrey Pettit is, you MUST go visit her blog. She is absolutely amazing! Thank you so much for joining me this week Audrey!

Here is what I did with the 2nd sketch. I like seeing how 2 totally different layouts come from the same sketch!!

This past weekend we had a fun family photo shoot. We seem to always take more silly photos than traditional "good" ones. The girls always like to act goofy and Rick never has a problem joining in. Hard to believe that our girls are about to start their 2nd semester of college already!!

Next week I'll be back with the 3rd sketch from the book. You can find it on page 13. It's an 8 1/2 x 11 sketch, but I will convert it to a 12x12  since I don't do 8 1/2 x 11 layouts. If you would like to join me, please email a picture of your layout using the 3rd sketch and I'll post it here along with mine.

Family - The Kraft Journal

This week at The Kraft Journal we have another Word Challenge. This time the word is Family.
I chose to make a layout using one of my all time favorite family photos ever taken of us.

I really loved being able to "think outside of the box" with a few of the items I used from The Kraft Outlet. I used Kraft Text Weight Paper for my photo mat, scallop edge and my journaling block. I was able to create an anchor for my title by inking up a few Buff Ivory Labels. I used another Silver Bottle Cap on this project, told you that you would be seeing them again. I altered it with some alcohol ink to make it match the color scheme of this layout. I also put a button into the center of it for a very nice embellishment. I am loving all of the products from The Kraft Outlet, the quality is fantastic and the prices are great! I also love the fact that you can order many items in the quantity that you want not in a pre-set amount. Be sure to visit this great store!

Now it's time for you to head on over to The Kraft Journal to see what our amazing team of  talented designers did with the challenge word family. You can join in on the fun too, create a project using the challenge word as inspiration and get it linked up at The Kraft Journal, oh and don't forget about the monthly prize!

Project PageMaps 1-1

Today is my first layout in my personal challenge Project PageMaps. I am working from the 1st book and I started with the first sketch. You can find it on page 10 if you have the book. I don't want to post a picture of the sketch here because I'm not sure if I could get in trouble with any copyright stuff.

Yes, I am that far behind on my scrapbooking! This is my little guy at 4 years old, I still can't get over how darn cute he was. I just adore this picture taken of him at preschool. He was one of the teacher's favorite little kids. I know this because every day when I would go to pick him up Teacher Doris was always holding him and she would give him the biggest hugs when it was time to leave.

Next week I will be working on the 2nd sketch in the book found on page 12 and will post it on Wednesday (and every Wed from then on).  If you have this book and want to play along with me, email me a picture of your layout and I'll post it here with mine. If several of you want to play, I can even add a Mr. Linky. This isn't a challenge, there are no prizes...this is just to get me to make more layouts and TRY to get caught up. I hope it inspires you to get more layouts done too!

I'll be back on Monday with another challenge from The Kraft Journal!

Project PageMaps

I've decided on a project for myself! I recently purchased Becky Fleck's PageMaps 1 and I really love that book. Then for Christmas I asked for PageMaps 2 and I got it thanks to my wonderful honey. As I was cleaning and rearranging my craft room the other day I was trying to think of a good project to keep me motivated with my scrapbooking to get more pages done. An idea came to me as I was hanging my PageMap sketch cards on a hook. Why not create one layout a week from PageMaps 1 in order and then move on to PageMaps 2. Now, there are 60 sketches in the first book so if I want to finish the book by the end of the year I'm going to have to do more than one a week a few times. I started on my first layout today and am almost done, but the girls are on break from college and wanted to go shopping so I couldn't refuse!   I will finish it up tomorrow and get it posted by Friday and then I will post a layout from Project PageMaps every Wednesday.

If you would like to play along with me, I would love to have some company on this journey! If you do a layout with the same sketch I'm working on, email me a picture. I would love to post it on my blog along with mine.

Hope you are all having a wonderful week, see you Friday!!

Flourish - The Kraft Journal

Hello there! I hope you are having a wonderful day. I'm so glad you came to visit for the very first challenge at The Kraft Journal. This week we have a Word Challenge and the word is Flourish.

For my project I decided to use the actual word "flourish" on my project.

This card came together so easily for me. I used the Kraft Blank Note Cards from The Kraft Outlet. The note cards come with matching envelopes and I even stamped the envelope to match the card. I made this adorable flower with a 1" circle punch and topped it off with a Silver Bottle Cap, also from The Kraft Outlet. I love working with these bottle caps, you can be sure you will be seeing more of them on my projects!

Please stop by The Kraft Journal and take a look at what our other amazing designers came up with for this Word Challenge. Make sure to join in on the fun too by linking up your project, you could win our monthly prize by participating. This month the prize is a $20 gift voucher to our store!!

"My Son" for Sketchy Thursdays

Happy Saturday everybody! It's been a great day here at my house. It started out with a nice quiet house so I was able to enjoy some coffee and blog surfing. Then I cooked a nice big breakfast for my boys (plus one) yummo! The rest of my day, so far, has been spent in my craft room. I had a picture in mind that I wanted to scrap so I went on a layout sketch challenge hunt to find a challenge that I liked to go with the picture. Sketchy Thursdays was it! I really liked the 1.6 sketch challenge, here is their sketch.

Here is what I did with the sketch.

It's funny looking back at this picture. I remember it being taken so clearly, like it was yesterday. But to look at the picture and then look at him now, totally different. My oh my how time does fly! Oh, do you like that flower? Well I sure do and you can see how to make it right HERE, super easy and really cool looking....thanks Kim!

I'll be back on Monday with my first project for the Kraft Journal, be sure to visit me and the other AMAZING designers on that team. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

Papercraft Star Challenge 27

Another great challenge this week over at Papercraft Star! I hope that you will join me and create a project.
Here are the challenge details,

Challenge 27 - New Year's Resolution Project
Begins January 5, 2011
Make a card, layout, altered item, gift or home decor project using one of your New Year's Resolutions as your inspiration.  Be sure to include the New Year's Resolution as part of your project description on your blog! You have until Noon (eastern) on Saturday Jan 8th to get your project linked up before the voting begins.

Here is what I came up with for this challenge.

I decided to do a digital layout for this challenge. I purchased a great digital download from Basic Grey, this is the Scarlet's Letter collection. Let me just say, I LOVE IT! It is a beautiful collection. Basic Grey is one of my favorite lines, I own quite a bit of it. I would love to have the "real" version of this line in my hands.  Okay, back to the challenge...New Year's Resolutions. I didn't make any this year. Why make them if I know I will never keep them, instead we just made lots of plans. Among them are 2 visits to my wonderful friend Beth, a trip to TN and WY and getting some debt paid off.  I am really excited about everything that comes along with 2011!!

Supplies:
Digital Kit: Scarlet's Letter (Basic Grey)
Software: My Digital Studio (Stampin Up

Creative Scrappers Sketch #137

Happy Wednesday!

I love a good sketch, don't you? All of my layouts start with a sketch. Now, that doesn't mean that I actually follow the sketch....they just get my creative juices flowing. The new sketch at Creative Scrappers did just that. I actually followed this one pretty closely. Here is the sketch,

And here is what I did with it,

I'll be back on Friday with another project for Papercraft Star, challenge 27.

Have a great day!!

A Year in Review and a Look Ahead

Wow, 2011 and already 4 days into it. My how time flies!! After reading lots of blog posts about favorite projects of 2010, I decided to take a look back at what I had done. So much happened around here in 2010 and I am very excited about what 2011 has to offer. It was really hard to narrow my "favorites" down, but I was able to choose 1 layout and 1 card.

Looking back at the layouts I did last year, lots of them make me smile. But there is just one that I would have to call my favorite. Not necessarily because I think it's the best one, but because it was a turning point for me on how I approach my layouts. This one was done for my short time as a designer for Better Living Through Scrapbooking.

I have really slacked off on my card production, but I hope to get more of them created in 2011. Looking back, I am still in love with the card I will show you next. It was my first attempt at making my own flower and it is still just beautiful! (I couldn't part with the card..LOL)

I am so happy that so many of you have joined my little crafty adventure here at Kristina's World! I have my Blog Birthday coming soon and I am cooking up a fun celebration. I really hope that this year I can balance my creative time better and get on a more consistent posting schedule. My goal is at least 3 times a week. I think that is a good number for me considering all of my other responsibilities.

I wish you all only GOOD things for 2011!!
