Sketch Challenge at ScrapTiffany

It's Monday again and that means it's time for a Challenge at ScrapTiffany. This week we were provided with a sketch from one of our very own designers, Abby.

Here is a look at the sketch,

This is what I came up with using the sketch. I wish you could see all of the glitter on this project. The paper has glitter and the flower is all glittered up with Mod Podge Sparkle.

The journaling is hidden inside of the matchbook I made and is held closed by the metal plate frame.
Head on over to ScrapTiffany and see what the other designers did with this sketch. You can email your own project to Tiffany at  tiffany@scraptiffany.com

Have a wonderful day!

"Whistle While You Work" - Better Living Through Scrapbooking

This weeks challenge is all about those household chores we all love and hate!

“Whistle While You Work” challenge
Create a layout about household tasks that you perform every day. (i.e. laundry, lawn mowing, cooking dinner, washing dishes, garden tending, school carpool, etc.) Journal about why you love or hate doing them.
Choose at least 2 of the following:
1. Use at least 2 photos that represent your household tasks.
2. Use a paper-tearing technique somewhere in your page design.
3. Use rubber or acrylic stamps somewhere in your page design.
4. Make a reference to Cinderella, Martha Stewart, or your favorite TV mom in your journaling.
5. Give a retro/50s theme to your page.”

There are lots of chores around the house that I would really rather not do! I really don't care for yard work or laundry. Although, I am extremely picky about how the laundry is done so I guess I am the one stuck doing it. Let's just put it this way, I would rather scrub toilets than do laundry and I have 4 toilets so that says a lot! Since I am not a big fan of mowing the lawn either I decided to do my layout about my son, Eric, learning how to mow the lawn for me. I used options number 1 and 4 for this layout.  Since this is my son, I made my own Cinderella word...Cinder-Dude. I love this collection from Basic Grey, it's great for boys! I painted the buttons with bronze paint to make them match the paper. I love the texture on these buttons from our sponsor Charlene's Button Box.

What chores do you love or hate? Why not make a layout about it and play along with me at Better Living Through Scrapbooking, you have until Nov 30th to submit your project.

Additional Supplies Used:

Hello my dear followers and friends! I hope that you are all enjoying your holiday week, if it's a holiday where you live that is :)

I have a special favor to ask of you. It won't take but a moment of your time. As most of you are aware the dog rescue group, National Mill Dog Rescue, is very special to me. I have adopted 2 dogs from them, fostered several and spend a lot of hours doing volunteer work for them. There is a company awarding $1000 to the rescue group with the most votes at the end of the year. We need as many votes as we can get!! If you would just click HERE and vote for us, even just once, it would help us tremendously!

I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving!

ScrapTiffany - it's all about the FOOD

If you are looking for the Papercraft Star Thanksgiving Blog Hop click HERE

This week at ScrapTiffany we are doing projects all about food! The layout I have for you today is all about making salsa for Carson's graduation party.

For the graduation ceremony and party Carson's dad and his fiance, Joann, came out for a visit. Carson had one request for Joann, "Please make your salsa". We had a great time going to the mexican market to shop for all of the supplies and then hanging out in the kitchen cooking together. She is such a great lady, we all really like her!

Head on over to ScrapTiffany and see what the other Tiffany Girls did with food. If you would like to submit a project with a food theme, you can email it to  tiffany@scraptiffany.com.

Have a wonderful day!!

(I'm sorry, but I can't find my list of supplies. I can tell you that the paper collection is Kioshi from Basic Grey and I made the flowers out of grid paper that my son uses for math, a little distress ink and the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die)

Family Tradition - Better Living Through Scrapbooking

This week's challenge at BLTS is to scrap a Family Tradition. Check out the challenge details!

“Family Tradition” challenge

Create a layout about a family tradition, event, or something your family regularly does together that is not holiday related.

Choose at least 2 of the following:
1. Use three or more photos from a family event, cropped to fit your page design.
2. Use paper or supplies on your page that are at least a year old.
3. Use the word “tradition” in the title of your page.
4. Use hidden journaling in your page design.”

As a military family several of our traditions have come and gone with the changes in our lives, where we are living and if Rick is home or deployed. The kids and I have had several "traditions" but coming up with one that has stuck for a long time is difficult. There is one thing though that Rick and I started a few years ago and I don't see that one ever changing, at least not in the near future. Every summer we take a road trip on our Harley and little Lucy even comes with us (that's her in the pouch wearing the doggles). For this challenge I chose to use options number 2 and 4. I have had this paper collection for quite some time and I still think it is just adorable. It was perfect to incorporate the adorable owl button from our sponsor Charlene's Button Box.  I tucked a journaling tag inside of an envelope and placed it behind the picture. It just talks about how we started taking trips, where we have been and where we plan on going next summer.

Please join me over at Better Living Through Scrapbooking. You have until the end of the month to submit your project! Plus, you will want to be sure to see what the other amazing designers have come up with.

My Best Birthday Memory - Better Living Through Scrapbooking

For the November Newsletter at Better Living Through Scrapbooking we were asked to scrap our favorite birthday memory. We were asked to choose 2 of the following elements for our project,

Options:
1. Paint on your page using object other than brush (pencil eraser, q-tip, bubble wrap, etc)
2. Make an embellishment entirely from cardstock
3. Use multiple layers of cardstock for a photo mat - try ripping, using a border punch, die-cut machine, etc, for fun!
4. Journal on a shape
5. Use a very bright color palette - vibrant yellows, reds, blues, and greens!

When I read that BLTS wanted us to scrap our favorite birthday memory I was a bit stumped. I don't really have any. I don't have very many memories from childhood and I have never really made that big of a deal out of my birthday as an adult. There is, however, one very special birthday that I will never forget! It's the day that my daughter Carson was born. That was the best birthday in the world. I created this layout for her letting her know how special that day was. I chose a bright color palette of greens, pinks and blues. I also used several different layers of cardstock for my photo mat. Topping it off is a great bird button from our sponsor, Charlene's Button Box

Sponsor Supplies Used:
Cardstock: Discount Cardstock "Eggplant Felt 12x12 and Brilliant White 80#"
Adhesive: Plaid "Mod Podge Sparkle"
Embellishments: Charlene's Button Box "Bird button"
Additional Supplies Used:
Paper and embellishments: All from Little Red Scrapbook "September 2010 Kit"
Tools: Border Punch "Stampin Up", Signo Broad "white gel pen"

Simple Holiday Card w/Crepe Paper

It's all about Crepe Paper this week at ScrapTiffany
I have been seeing lots of holiday cards with pastels this year and especially pink, so I thought I would jump on board. This card was super easy to make and could be mass produced for your holiday card giving quite easily. Just some kraft cardstock, and embossing folder, stickles, a stamp and some crepe paper. This picture really doesn't do this card any justice, it's so sparkly in person with all of the pink stickles. I hope you give working with crepe paper a try, the possibilities are endless. Take a look over at ScrapTiffany and see what the other fabulous designers did with it.

Better Living Through Scrapbooking "Charity" Layout

What a fantastic challenge we have this week at Better Living Through Scrapbooking. I was able to scrap about something that is very near and dear to my heart. I hope that you will join me in this challenge, here is the information you need.

“The Greatest of These is Charity” challenge
One way to make your life better is through scrapbooking, another way is to do something nice for someone else. Scrap about something you do or have done for someone else. A loved one, a neighbor, a charity, etc.
Choose 2 of the following:
1. Print an element of your page (NOT a photo) using your home or office printer. This can be your title, your journaling, an embellishment, or anything else you can use on your page, but not a photo!
2. Use three brads somewhere on your page.
3. Use a chipboard letter or shape on your page.
4. Use the following quote somewhere on your page or in your journaling: “If you haven’t got any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble. . — Bob Hope””

This layout is all about my love for dogs and the work I do for National Mill Dog Rescue. I chose to use items number 2 and 3 from the challenge options on my layout. I used the adorable house button from our sponsor Charlene's Button Box and place it over a house that was printed on the pattern paper. Adding a few dog themed brads makes it a doggie house and takes care of option number 2. White chipboard letters all inked up for my main title takes care of item number 3. I look forward to scrapping more of my NMDR memories.

Until then, just remember....It's all about the dogs!!

Sponsor Supplies Used:
Cardstock: Discount Cardstock "Brilliant White 80# 8 1/2 x 11, Black Linen 80# 8 1/2 x 11, Primary Red Vellum 12 x 12
Embellishments: Charlene's Button Box "House Button"
Adhesive: Plaid "Mod Podge: Paper"

Additional Supplies Used:
Paper: DCWV "The Pets Stack", Stampin Up "Kraft"

ScrapTiffany Holiday Blog Hop

I am so glad you joined me for the ScrapTiffany Holiday blog hop! Can you believe it's the holiday season already!?! One of our radio stations here in town is already playing Christmas music. I LOVE this time of the year, the lights and sounds and smells and the pretty packages..I get so excited just thinking about it.

If you have arrived here from Kristi's blog, than you are in the right place. If not, you will want to start from the beginning so you don't miss anything.

I found a great tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers on how to make this adorable tissue box cover. You could adapt this to any season or holiday. Here is my version of the tissue box cover.

I think these would make great teacher or office gifts, who doesn't need a box of tissues on their desk?
And, since this is a blog hop how about some blog hop candy? If you are a follower here at Kristina's World and you leave me a comment on this post, I will enter you to win a $10 gift certificate to your choice of either Papertrey Ink or My Favorite Things.

The next stop for you on this hop is Laurel. Have fun on your ScrapTiffany Holiday Blog Hop journey!

Better Living Through Scrapbooking Bucket List Mini Album

Create a layout or mini-album about the items on your “bucket list” (things you want to do or see before you “kick the bucket”).
Choose at least 2 of the following:

1. Use only scraps of paper from your scrap paper collection in the album.
2. Use photos printed from a royalty-free photo website such as Stock Xchange to represent the items in your album from your “bucket list”.
3. Use color mist such as Tattered Angels, walnut ink spray, or your own homemade color spray to add some color to your mini-album pages.
4. On the cover of your mini-book, use various rub-ons for the title.”

25 Things 2 do
I've only done a few mini albums in the past but I really enjoy putting them together. This one was no different. I used a great album by our sponsor Punky Sprouts, this one is the Rebel Sprout..and a rebel it is. Each page is a different size and shape as well as 3 different materials; acrylic, canvas and chipboard.
Sitting down to write out a Bucket List was really fun in itself, I've never written one out before. It made me think hard about the things that are important to me.
For this challenge I chose to use items #2 Use photos printed from a royalty-free photo website and #3 Use color mist. Three bugs in a Rug is one of my favorite paper lines and I was happy to be using this collection. The images I used are from a royalty-free website, Dreamstime. Those along with lots of my own handwriting make this album special.

I chose to use the small acrylic page as my front cover, some letter stickers, a handmade flower, chipboard button and glimmer mist completes the cover page.

I used lots and lots of glimmer mist on this chipboard page, an adorable stamp from For the Luv of Art, and another handmade flower with the chipboard button center.

When you untie that black bow this cute matchbook opens to reveal the first five things on my list. I learned how to make this matchbook by watching THIS tutorial.

Working with canvas was new for me, but I really liked it. As you can see, the banner stamp shows up again and is a theme tying each page in the album numbering the items on my list.

Each of those pockets holds tags that list the next five things on my list.

Several mini cards fit perfectly on this large canvas page.

Stamping with StazOn ink worked really well on this acrylic page and it highlights a large hand cut heart symbolizing that I need to learn to love myself.

This final page shows the last five things on my list. The adorable house button from our sponsor Charlene's Button Box represents my desire to see my house appreciate in value and be able to sell it someday!
Join me at Better Living Through Scrapbooking for this super fun challenge!

Sponsor supplies used:
Cardstock: Discount Cardstock "Brilliant White 80# 8 1/2 x 11", " "Black Linen 80# 8 1/2 x 11"
Album: Punky Sprouts "Rebel Sprout"
Stamp: For the Luv of Art "Sweet Ollie"
Button: Charlene's Button Box "House"
Adhesive: Plaid  "pop-dots"

Additional supplies used:

Embellishments: Three Bugs in a Rug "Chaos & Confusion letters Red & Green", Scenic Route "chipboard buttons", Celebrate It "2 1/2 x 4 paper sacks, ribbon from my stash

It's Thrifty Thursday at Scrap Tiffany!

Hi there! It's my turn for Thrifty Thursday at Scrap Tiffany and do I have a cute little project to share with you today. During the holidays I keep EVERY receipt from gift purchases. I have this funny thing about making sure that I spend the exact same amount on each child, plus it makes returns a lot easier!

I was at Michaels the other day and I saw this coupon holder in the dollar bin.  I got an idea that I could spruce it up and make a cute holiday receipt holder out of it. I chose one with a green color to it to match some scraps I had at home.

Here is what the coupon holder looked like when I bought it.

I removed the band and the eyelet that was on the cover.

Then I just cut some scraps of holiday paper that I had left over from a recent layout to cover the outside of the book and the front of the inside cover.  This thing was not exactly straight so I had to adjust some of the cuts. I punched a new hole on the cover and set a new eyelet.

Here is how it turned out.

I added some little tabs for the names of my kids and viola I was done.  It only took about 30 minutes and cost me one dollar, everything else was scraps or things I already had in my stash!

Color Inspiration

It's time for a color inspiration from ScrapTiffany! This week it's tiffany blue, brown and cream. Remember last week I told you about the layout that I was in love with? Well, this is it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do :)

For this layout I used a technique that Jennifer McGuire showed on her blog. It shows 3 different ways to use paint and one of the ways was to stamp with it. That's what I did here. I stamped a border on the brown background with cream paint. I also used the same stamp to do a border on the cream cardstock with blue paint. The mat behind the photo was stamped cream on cream and then inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I also painted the rose as well as stamp the "I DO".

Here is an up close shot of the boutonniere that I re-created. I had saved it from the wedding, Rick was the best man, and the real rose had dried out. I clipped it off and replaced it with a paper one. I added some feathers to the background on top of this plastic doily.

I hope you give stamping with your paints a try, it was tons of fun!!

Head on over to ScrapTiffany and see what the other designers did with this color combination. You can play along with me too, just email your creation to Tiffany at tiffany@scraptiffany.com
