Easter Projects with the Cricut

Here are a few projects that I made with my Cricut today. We don't do large Easter baskets for the kids anymore. For one, I really try to limit the amount of candy that they consume. And two, all they really want anymore is money :)

I used the Tags, Bags, Boxes & More cartridge for both projects. I really tried to use more boy colors for Eric, so I focused on the blue and orange for his little Easter box. The bunny on the front was cut from the Easter cartridge and I just added an orange bow. The paper used on this is from Basic Grey, the Lemonade collection.

The little purse I made for Carson is really cute. I just added a little flower that I made on the front and a bow. The paper used on this one is from Me & My Big Ideas, the Chester collection.

I also had fun playing with my new camera! We just bought the Canon Rebel T1i. I'm still trying to figure out everything it can do, I'm probably gonna have to take a class!

I hope you are having a great day!

The Look of My Blog

Hi everybody!
I'm playing around with the look of my blog. I couldn't find any cool backgrounds with roosters on it, so I'm giving this layout and background a try. If you do know of where I can find great rooster choices, please let me know!!

Let me know what you think...it's a work in progress :)

Hope you all have a great start to your week.

Ms. Bright Side

The ever so sweet Beth at Runs With Scraps shared the Ms. Bright Side Award with me!! Thank you so much Beth. I will say that you always brighten up my day!!

So now, I am supposed to list 10 things that make me happy, provide 5 pieces of trivia about myself and then pass this award on the 5 fellow bloggers.

10 Things that make me HAPPY!!

1. My kids (most of the time)
2. My husband
3. Steak and Shrimp Fajitas with a House Margarita from The Loop
4. My friends
5. Rides on the Harley
6. My Dogs (Harley, Lucy, and Piper..unless they pee on the rug)
7. The smell of bread baking (YUMMO!)
8. COFFEE!!!! (I'm not very "bright" without it)
9. Giving to others
10. Crafting!!

5 Pieces of Trivia about ME (let's just call them "fun facts")

1. I grew up using a WOP rag at dinner and didn't find out until I was an adult that not everyone knows what a WOP rag is. (It's a dish towel passed around the table as a napkin) Who knew that every household in America, or Italy for that matter, didn't use a WOP rag or call it that.

2. I will take the mountains, rivers, streams, and lakes over the beach any day...hands down

3. My dream is to have a mini-farm and get out of the burbs.

4. I'm a Gemini, and I definitely have 2 sides. I have a shy side, and an outgoing, silly, sarcastic side. I have a girly, frilly, pink, make-up side and a jeans, bare feet, no make-up side.

5. I just got a FABULOUS new camera...and I only know how to turn it on..LOL

I would love to pass this along to:

Thanks again Beth!!

The colors were Certainly Celery, Barely Banana, Tempting Turquoise, Chocolate Chip, and White. I really like these colors, so I'm not sure why it was a tough for me :(

Spring Break = Spring Cleaning!

Sorry I don't have anything new to post. Today is the first day of spring break for us and we are cleaning. I'm helping my son gut his bedroom and get it all nice and clean. The windows are open and a nice breeze is coming through. We are on our 2nd bag of trash and are about 3/4 of the way done. We are working hard to get it finished today so that I can sit down tomorrow and create. I hope you are all having a wonderful day.

Thanks for checking in.

My Green Card

It's funny that I call this my green card. I made this for the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger. If you only knew where this card started, you would laugh when you see where it ended. When I first saw the trigger, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I instantly thought of the doily cut on the Wild Card cartridge. Then I had the idea to weave strips of green paper to imitate the pattern on the chair in the trigger picture. UUMMMM...yeah, that didn't work out so much. But this is where I ended up.

I still used the doily cut on the Wild Card cartridge, but my oh my did it change. I made this flower using a technique I learned by watching a tutorial by Tracy. It was so easy and I love love love how it came out. Thank you so much Tracy!! Anyway, I made the flower out of cream card stock and then I sprayed it with Marshmallow Glimmer Mist. I decided that I wanted it to have more depth so I rubbed some Tea Dye Distress Ink on my craft mat, sprayed it with water, and used my paintbrush to paint around the edges. After all that, I changed the paper I was using, AGAIN, and then went outside and snipped a little tiny branch off my baby tree. (Sorry honey, don't be mad) I also used the same Tea Dye Distress Ink on my cream colored satin ribbon. Here is a close up of the flower. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.

A challenge over at 2peas in a Bucket!

(Sorry for the poor picture quality...lighting is bad here today)

I found a challenge over at 2Peas that really inspired me. I had so much fun making this little card. The paper is from Cosmo Cricket's Honey Pie collection. It just makes me smile. I played around a little with UTEE, I'm still trying to get the hang of it.
Head on over to 2Peas and check out this challenge: 101 Things You Can Do #81

CPS #157 and Curtain Call Act 20

This card is for both the CPS #157 and Curtain Call Act 20 challenges. I tried some hand stitching on this one, I've never done that before. I'll probably try it again. I'm not sure I like how the holes look where the needle comes through. Any suggestions, or is that just the way it looks? Is the needle too big? I don't know. I made the flowers using a scallop circle punch and cut the leaves on my cricut. I glimmer misted them all up, no surprise there. I didn't add a sentiment becasue I'm not really sure this card needs one. I might add one later or just leave it as a blank notecard.

Here are the challenges:
Curtain Call Act 20 - Real Red, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery, and Whisper White

Flip Video Camera!!

So I really wanted a Flip video camera. I have been looking around at Target and Wal Mart and then yesterday I decided to look on Craigslist. I found one for $50!!! Rick went with me to go look at it, cuz ya never know, and boy am I glad he did!! A bit shady if you ask me. Regardless, I bought it and on the way home I started to wonder...do ya think it could be stolen?? I sure hope not!
I do love it though, just gotta get the hang of my movie editing program on my Mac.

Happy Monday!!

My first Mini Video

Hi everybody. I decided to try and make a video of my first mini. It's a little blurry, sorry. I'll get better with practice. I didn't talk, too nervous :) Anyway, this first mini is for my step-daughter Rachael. Both she and my daughter are graduating high school this year. I can't believe it!! I made this for her to put senior pictures of herself and her friends in it.

I cut it out of cereal boxes on my Big Shot using a cookie cutter die. The paper is from Basic Grey, the Lemonade collection pack. Some of the flowers are by Prima and some I made. I made two of the charms. I know this is a pretty basic mini, but for my first I'm happy with it.

I made a MINI!!

I made my very first mini album yesterday!! I am so excited. It's not as beautiful as some I have seen out there, but I'm happy with it. I can't decide if I want to post pictures or try to video it. I have never tried the video thing, so I'm a little nervous. Either way, pictures or video, I'll have something up by tomorrow!!

It's a beautiful day here in Colorado, I hope it's the same where you are!! Have a wonderful Saturday.

Baby Steps.....

Okay, I decided to go with a simple birthday card for my wonderful sister. I can feel the creative juices starting to flow again, slowly. I'm off to the post office to mail this card and my taxes.
Have a wonderful afternoon!!

~KristinaH

Where did my creativity go??

I think it ran away!! I tried really hard yesterday to make cards for some challenges I wanted to participate it. I was so excited to get my new Peachy Keen stamp set in the mail, so I sat right down and got to work. Oh it was awful....I tried 3 times. What I ended up with I was too ashamed to post. Even my daughter turned up her nose. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that I did our monthly budget and 2009 incomes taxes first. That's it....that must be what killed by creative side.
Today is a new day and I think I am up for another try. Cross your fingers and wish me luck!!
Hope you are all having a great day.
