Project PageMaps 1-8

It's Wednesday already? My how time is just flying by this week. That's okay because the faster time goes the faster I will be visiting my dear friend Beth!!

This week for Project PageMaps I worked from the first book, eighth sketch. You can find the sketch on page 22. This week the sketch was a 7-photo 8 1/2 x 11 double layout. HHHMMmmmm, doesn't work so much for me. So, I totally modified it to suit me. That's one of the great things I love about sketches, you can either follow it exactly or just use it as a jumping off point. Here's what I did with it,

I pretty much stuck to the right side of the layout and just tweaked it a touch. These pictures are from a Harley Road Trip that Rick in I took in 2009. We stopped at a lookout point called Goat Lick. We were able to see some of the goats that live there, super cool. Even though these pictures were not taken in the fall, I wanted to play up on the orange tones in the tree and on my scarf. I kept wanting to add something to the top right corner of the page but nothing looked right there...so I left it alone.

I'm really enjoying this project and it's so fun to see my scrapbook filling up! The next sketch is a 12x12 double 7-photo layout. I'll be honest, I'm not a huge double layout fan for my scrapbooks. But, like this week, I'll think of a way to modify it.

I'll be back on friday with a project for Challenge 36 at Papercraft Star!

Have a great day!!

Spring Fling at The Kraft Journal

We have another great challenge for you at The Kraft Journal!! The theme this week is Spring Fling.
All you need to do is create a Spring Fling themed project that includes either Kraft cardstock or products from Kraft Outlet to be eligible for the prize. You have until 6pm (Eastern) Sunday March 13, 2011 to get linked up. All participants in our challenges for the month of March have a chance to be featured on our "Feature You Fridays" posts as well as be entered to win a $15.00 Kraft outlet Store Voucher!

For this card I made a 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 card out of Brown Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock and attached it to a  5 1/2 in scallop square that I cut on my Cricut. I made a fun little flower out of Glassine Bags which have a wax paper feel to them. I just crumpled up the scallop circles that I punched and then inked the edges with some watered down ink. I also tried a trick from Jan and dyed the seam binding  with the same ink to match. I stamped a Library Card with a great new stamp that I first inked up with some Distress Ink. I hope that you are inspired to create your own Spring Fling project and join us this week at The Kraft Journal!

Project PageMaps 1-7

Hello there!
How are you today? I'm doin pretty good. We had a B-U-TEE-FULL day here yesterday and I'm crossing my fingers for another good one today. It was 67 degrees and sunny, blue skies and no clouds to be seen. I was able to open the windows for some fresh air. The only way it could have been better was if Rick didn't have to work and we were out on the motorcycle!!! Ahhh, a girl can dream...right?

Here is my layout based on the 7th sketch in the first PageMaps book. The sketch is a 3-photo 12x12 layout. I normally don't do layouts with 3 photos on them, but I decided to just go with it this time :)

I love the paper on this one, but I didn't keep good track of what supplies I used this time around. I know it's Fancy Pants and I think it's called Hot Chocolate or Hot Coco...something like that. Anyway, this shows pictures from one of the Army Hospital Annual Balls that Rick and I attend every December. It's so fun seeing all of our friends all dressed up in their finest. I love seeing all of the beautiful uniforms with all of the medals and ribbons and stripes on display, truly amazing!

The 8th sketch is a 8 1/2 x 11 double 7 - photo layout. HHmmmm, not sure what I am going to do with it to adjust it to my style but I'm sure I will figure something out. Come back by next week and take a look at what I come up with. And, if you want to play along just email me a picture of your layout and I'll post it here with mine.

Have a fantastic day!!

Cute as a Button!

It's Monday, again, and that means it's time for another challenge at The Kraft Journal. The theme for this week is "Cute as a Button". This theme has so many possibilities, I was almost overwhelmed trying to make a decision on what to make. Then, as I was searching through my stash, I found a cork board in a frame that I picked up at the $1 store a long time ago knowing that I could make something out of it...someday.

Well that someday arrived and I think it really is "Cute as a Button"!!

I will be giving this to little William's mama to use at their house. I think this is just  adorable as is, but you could certainly add a picture to it. Oh, another idea just hit me...I could have removed the cork piece and added metal behind it and it could have held up pictures with magnets and I could have made matching magnets with the bottle caps...oh the wheels are turning my friends!!

I used a piece of precut chipboard to reinforce the back of this frame, it was pretty flimsy and it really sturdied it right up....is sturdied a word?

I hope you enjoy this project and are inspired to create your own "Cute as a Button" themed piece of craftiness. Head on over to The Kraft Journal and see what the other amazing designers came up with for this challenge.

Project PageMaps 1-6

This is my 2nd post for the day. Scroll down if you are looking for the Kraft Journal tutorial.

This past weekend I was able to drive up to my local Archivers store and I was in heaven. They recently got in some new products and I had to be very careful not to go bonkers in there. I did pick up 3 new lines of paper, Springtime and For the Record from Echo Park and Stella and Rose from My Mind's Eye. Let me just say this.....YUMMO!!!

I couldn't resist breaking open one of these yummy collections for this week's Project PageMaps. I used the 6th sketch from the 1st book (I think it's on page 18). The sketch is an 8 1/2 x 11 sketch, but you know me...I changed it to a 12x12.

This layout really came together quite quickly and I am just loving this paper!! It's not quite my usual, it has a bit of a vintage touch, but I love it. Oh, by the way, did I happen to mention that  I LOVE THIS PAPER!

I am going to try to do a 2nd layout this week and post on Friday, if not, I'll be back next Wednesday with the 7th sketch.

I hope you are having a great week!!
