This week at ScrapTiffany we are doing projects all about food! The layout I have for you today is all about making salsa for Carson's graduation party.

For the graduation ceremony and party Carson's dad and his fiance, Joann, came out for a visit. Carson had one request for Joann, "Please make your salsa". We had a great time going to the mexican market to shop for all of the supplies and then hanging out in the kitchen cooking together. She is such a great lady, we all really like her!

Family Tradition - Better Living Through Scrapbooking

This week's challenge at BLTS is to scrap a Family Tradition. Check out the challenge details!

“Family Tradition” challenge

Create a layout about a family tradition, event, or something your family regularly does together that is not holiday related.

Choose at least 2 of the following:
1. Use three or more photos from a family event, cropped to fit your page design.
2. Use paper or supplies on your page that are at least a year old.
3. Use the word “tradition” in the title of your page.
4. Use hidden journaling in your page design.”

As a military family several of our traditions have come and gone with the changes in our lives, where we are living and if Rick is home or deployed. The kids and I have had several "traditions" but coming up with one that has stuck for a long time is difficult. There is one thing though that Rick and I started a few years ago and I don't see that one ever changing, at least not in the near future. Every summer we take a road trip on our Harley and little Lucy even comes with us (that's her in the pouch wearing the doggles). For this challenge I chose to use options number 2 and 4. I have had this paper collection for quite some time and I still think it is just adorable. It was perfect to incorporate the adorable owl button from our sponsor Charlene's Button Box.  I tucked a journaling tag inside of an envelope and placed it behind the picture. It just talks about how we started taking trips, where we have been and where we plan on going next summer.

My Best Birthday Memory - Better Living Through Scrapbooking

For the November Newsletter at Better Living Through Scrapbooking we were asked to scrap our favorite birthday memory. We were asked to choose 2 of the following elements for our project,

Options:

1. Paint on your page using object other than brush (pencil eraser, q-tip, bubble wrap, etc)

2. Make an embellishment entirely from cardstock

3. Use multiple layers of cardstock for a photo mat - try ripping, using a border punch, die-cut machine, etc, for fun!

4. Journal on a shape

5. Use a very bright color palette - vibrant yellows, reds, blues, and greens!

When I read that BLTS wanted us to scrap our favorite birthday memory I was a bit stumped. I don't really have any. I don't have very many memories from childhood and I have never really made that big of a deal out of my birthday as an adult. There is, however, one very special birthday that I will never forget! It's the day that my daughter Carson was born. That was the best birthday in the world. I created this layout for her letting her know how special that day was. I chose a bright color palette of greens, pinks and blues. I also used several different layers of cardstock for my photo mat. Topping it off is a great bird button from our sponsor, Charlene's Button Box.

Simple Holiday Card w/Crepe Paper

It's all about Crepe Paper this week at ScrapTiffany! 

I have been seeing lots of holiday cards with pastels this year and especially pink, so I thought I would jump on board. This card was super easy to make and could be mass produced for your holiday card giving quite easily. Just some kraft cardstock, and embossing folder, stickles, a stamp and some crepe paper. This picture really doesn't do this card any justice, it's so sparkly in person with all of the pink stickles. I hope you give working with crepe paper a try, the possibilities are endless. Better Living Through Scrapbooking "Charity" Layout

What a fantastic challenge we have this week at Better Living Through Scrapbooking. I was able to scrap about something that is very near and dear to my heart. I hope that you will join me in this challenge, here is the information you need. 

“The Greatest of These is Charity” challenge
One way to make your life better is through scrapbooking, another way is to do something nice for someone else. Scrap about something you do or have done for someone else. A loved one, a neighbor, a charity, etc.
Choose 2 of the following:
1. Print an element of your page (NOT a photo) using your home or office printer. This can be your title, your journaling, an embellishment, or anything else you can use on your page, but not a photo!
2. Use three brads somewhere on your page.
3. Use a chipboard letter or shape on your page.
4. Use the following quote somewhere on your page or in your journaling: “If you haven’t got any charity in your heart, you have the worst kind of heart trouble. . — Bob Hope””

This layout is all about my love for dogs and the work I do for National Mill Dog Rescue. I chose to use items number 2 and 3 from the challenge options on my layout. I used the adorable house button from our sponsor Charlene's Button Box and place it over a house that was printed on the pattern paper. Adding a few dog themed brads makes it a doggie house and takes care of option number 2. White chipboard letters all inked up for my main title takes care of item number 3. I look forward to scrapping more of my NMDR memories.
