This just in.......

My daughter graduated yesterday!!

What a beautiful day yesterday. The temp was great and there was a breeze blowing so we wouldn't get too hot. There were 360 graduates and 40 Valedictorians and 1 Salutatorian. The highest GPA earned was a 4.67!!! HOLY COW there are some smart cookies in that graduating class. The ceremony lasted 3 hours but it seemed to fly by. One of the most touching moments was when the principal called out the names of the students whose parents are currently deployed. Each child stood up and walked to the outside edge of their row, then their parents name was announced and where the parent is deployed. Lots of tears...let me tell ya. The Army was there streaming the graduation ceremony live via satellite for the deployed parents to watch the ceremony!! Okay, I'm getting choked up sooooo....I'll just move on to a few photos.

Today we are getting ready to head out to CA for my step-daughter's graduation. I am super excited!! Think safe thoughts for us while on the road and I will update you on our adventure sometime next week.
I hope you are all doing great....I really miss my blog buddies and I miss crafting!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Gone Fishin'

I'm hangin my Gone Fishin' sign folks!
I'm takin a vacation!

Tomorrow family will start flying in for my daughter's graduation ceremony and celebration. So, yup you guessed it, I'm cleaning today. My sister from Florida kicks things off tomorrow, followed by my mom and her boyfriend on Wednesday, and my ex-husband and his girlfriend on Thursday. Graduation is Saturday (along with my birthday) and then we hit the road for our vacation to Nor Cal. We will be there for my step-daughter's graduation and celebration as well as a family reunion. I am so excited for a trip back home. I really miss it there, although I don't miss the heat! It gets SUPER hot there, it has even reached 117 there before, you pretty much stay inside with the AC running full blast 24/7, not fun. Anyway, I will keep you posted along the way with a few pictures here and there but I just won't have time to craft next week while everyone is here. I'll be back in plenty of time to see who gets chosen for the DT over at Papercraft Star! If you haven't checked it out yet, take a minute and pop on over there.

I hope you have a great time over the next 2 weeks, and I'm sure I will be peeking in to see what you have been creating. I can't stay completely away, are you kidding?!!?

Take care!

A New Cartridge!

Hello there!
I have been purchasing new cartridges on Ebay lately, thanks a lot Beth! I have to admit, I kinda get caught up in the whole bidding war thing, it's fun. One of the new carts I purchased is Preserves. It has some really cute images on it and I think it will be fun to make a cook/scrapbook with. I decided to try it out while playing along with OCCSC16. I chose to rotate the sketch and leave off a sentiment. I might add one later but for now I decided not to. Trust me, I really wanted to add something else to the front of this card, but I felt like it was getting too busy, so I backed off and let the grapes be the star of the show.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!
I just noticed something as the picture was loading....the green paper/ribbon are almost the same color as my walls! No wonder I am always drawn to that color...

Thanks for stopping by!

Copic is in the Building!!

My birthday present got here!! Okay, so my B-day is still 10 days away, but I opened the box anyway!!
Here is what I got.......

Now that I have these babies, I'm gonna have to learn how to use them!! I have found a few good blogs about them and I started to play around last night. It's kinda confusing, everyone has their favorite paper/ink combo. There were a few names that kept coming up though. I guess I will just have to figure out what will work best for me. If you have any tips, let me know!!

Hope you all have a great day!

Hi!

Hi there! Creative Craft World Challenge #5 is to make an easel card. I had never made an easel card before so I decided to give it a whirl. Here is what I came up with....

When I got this paper from Sassafras (Hog Heaven) I just knew the little hedgehog from the Create a Critter cartridge would be adorable with it. The easel was very easy to make and I really like how it turned out. I will be making easel cards in the future, for sure!!

As always, thanks for stopping by my little piece of the world!

File Folder Mini Book

Hi everybody, I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!!
Last night I got to hang out with my scrapping group and we made a fun project with a file folder. I'm sure you have seen these before, but I wanted to share it with you. They are super easy and fast to make and  the possibilities are endless.  It's always fun getting together with a group of women to create. Fun conversations, great food, and lots of inspiration.

Here is a link to a tutorial on how to make these cute tag mini books.

Happy Mother's Day, Prom, and a Hike!

Happy Mother's Day to you all! I hope you all have a wonderful day with your families!!
It is a beautiful day here and we are headed outside!!

First, I wanted to share a picture with you guys. Last night was my daughter's, Carson, Senior Prom. We hired a photographer to take photos for this special occasion. Rick followed the photographer around and took more candid photos. He got some really funny ones. Anyway, they had dinner in Manitou so that is where the photo shoot was. I think we caused quite a spectacle, even stopping traffic a few times. Oh well, it was a blast and the photos will remind us of that day for a lifetime. Here is one of the pictures Rick took of Carson and her boyfriend Matt.

Since today is so beautiful outside, we are heading back to Manitou. Today, however, it will be to hike The Incline. I have never tried to hike it before and I am a little nervous. I have been told that there is an escape route at the halfway point. Now, you may be wondering why I am nervous about a hike. Well let me explain....The Incline is a 1 mile hike...not so scary right?? WRONG...it is one mile of stairs made from railroad ties that goes straight up!!! The total hike is 3 miles, cuz once you go up, you gotta come down. Luckily there is a trail on the back side of it and you don't have to walk back down the steps.  Here is a picture of The Incline...

Okay, now see the people at the top? Well, that isn't the top....you can't see the top from the bottom!!
I am going to try to take some pictures along the way, but I may just have to concentrate on not dying!!
I hope I can still move my legs tomorrow...LOL Wish me luck!!

Have a great day!
xoxo,

Dog Days

Hi everybody!! I hope you are having a great week, TGIF!!

Last night I made this tag to play along at City Crafter Challenge Blog (CCCB#3). The challenge is to make a "Terrific Tag". I am back to doing cute with my Create a Critter cartridge and I think this tag turned out exactly that....CUTE!!! I used my Lhasa Apso, Harley,  as inspiration for the colors (although I reversed the colors because I thought it would look better).

I have to tell you that my dogs went NUTS when I took this picture. They saw the treat jars come out and it was all over!! Needless to say, I had to give them a few :)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks for stopping by my little piece of the world,

Mother's Day Cards

Hi all!!

Well, I still needed to make Mother's Day cards for both my mom and Rick's. As I was blog surfing this morning I found this adorable card by Enfys. I was totally inspired (a.k.a. totally knew I was gonna scraplift!). Here is a link to Splitcoast Stampers instruction page on how to create one of these cuties.
Here is what I came up with....

Normally I would have wanted to make these super dimensional, but since they are being mailed to CA I tried to keep them a little flatter than I would have liked.

These are super easy to make and I did both of them fairly quickly. You should give it a try!!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Copic, Copic, COPIC!!

I just had to share. I asked for Copic Markers for Mother's Day and for my birthday, which is at the end of this month. Well, ask and I shall receive. I was able to order 64 markers this weekend and I can not wait to get them. Thanks to my BBF Beth for her info, I was able to get them for $3.95 each and free shipping!!
Beth gave me this website address for the best price she found on them. Thanks so much girl!!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to lots of stamping and coloring in my future!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!!
